A Weekend in San Antonio: Day 2

Saturday we started off visiting the Alamo. It's one of my favorite places and this trip seemed a little extra special. Jared and I got to visit the small building at Washington one the Brazos where they declared Texas independence from Mexico last March. It's a small, nondescript building but it's what was happening while the men in the Alamo fought to the death. I got a little emotional knowing this and saw the Alamo in a slightly different light. It's a little piece of home that I will always treasure.

A December Weekend

A Weekend in Aggieland

Thanks to our wonderful cousins, we were blessed with the opportunity to attend a Texas A&M football game! We had not been back to Kyle Field since the renovation and BOY was it crazy! A low turnout attendance was higher then the most crowded game Jared and I attended while at school by a healthy 10,000 people margin.

Trip Up North

Every year, since Jared was 13, he would travel up to Indiana with his grandfather and dad to go hunting. It's been a family tradition every since.

Jared's grandfather died in 2007, but it hasn't stopped them from going up and continuing to hunt on the land. Maddie finally got to make it up there for the first time and got to see first hand where this special place was.

A Day in the Life

I don't think it's a surprise that with Jared's irregular work schedule, life doesn't revolve around your typical 5/2 day work/play schedule. But there are some days where life kinda seems "normal." This day was one of those days. And yes, it did center around tacos.

To Travel Back in Time

A couple of weekends ago, we had the amazing opportunity to attend the Vintage Flying Museam Swing Dance!

We went to a museum last year (see Thursday's Throwback post!) and found out they host an annual Swing Dance Gala every year with an authentic swing band. Also, everyone dresses up in "WWII era" garb! We had plans last year the weekend they hosted it but we made a promise to make sure we made it this year. It did not disappoint!

#ThrowbackThursday: Vintage Flying Museam

We wanted to revisit a blog that Maddie wrote on her old blog! When we moved here, we realized we have five different airports within a few miles of us. Score! One of our favorites is right down the road from us called Meacham airport.

There's an amazing museam there called the Vintage Flying Museam where WWII era planes are on display with so many other things. They are all housed in an original B-29 Bomber hanger.
