A Weekend in San Antonio: Day 2
This last weekend we had an amazing and wonderful weekend with my family, including my Aunt and Uncle! It's their first Christmas back in the States for a while since they have been missionaries overseas for several years now!
Saturday we started off visiting the Alamo. It's one of my favorite places and this trip seemed a little extra special. Jared and I got to visit the small building at Washington one the Brazos where they declared Texas independence from Mexico last March. It's a small, nondescript building but it's what was happening while the men in the Alamo fought to the death. I got a little emotional knowing this and saw the Alamo in a slightly different light. It's a little piece of home that I will always treasure.
We then toured the rest of downtown including the San Fernadino Cathedral, the Market Square and of course, the Riverwalk. Thankfully, we got our river cruise in before the crazy cold front came in. We ended up having to leave our outdoor table to take refuge downstairs in one of the banquet rooms.
Apparently, where we had dinner was also where Santa Anna camped during the siege of the Alamo. Kinda brought the whole day full circle.
There's nothing like great. food and great conversation with the family to bring a great end to the day.
